Connect Municipal Water Supply to Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot (CFAD) Rocky Point

CFAD Rocky Point was originally constructed in the mid-1950s with few upgrades or additions to the water system. The current water system supplies domestic water to administration areas, support facilities, and Residential Housing Units; as well as fire suppression water. Some components of the functioning water system, are reaching the end of their useful life.

The proposed work associated with this project will involve connecting to the existing municipal (Capital Regional District) 200mm diameter water main at the intersection of Rocky Point Road and East Sooke Road. A new backflow prevention device will be installed at this intersection. A new 2,400m long, 300mm diameter PVC watermain will be installed along Rocky Point Road south of this intersection.

The existing water system, which is fed from the Mary Hill Reservoir, across Pedder Bay, will be capped and abandoned in place.
