West Coast Trail Bridge (#96) Support Repair

An impact assessment is required to address potential impacts resulting from the repair of a Class A2 pedestrian bridge on the West Coast Trail of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Bridge repairs are required to ensure the safety of visitors and staff while traversing and maintaining the trail. Limited ground disturbance within riparian habitat will be required to upgrade the mid-span bridge support structure. All work within the riparian zone will meet DFO measures to reduce harm to fish, including project completion during the least-risk summer window when the adjacent creek is expected to be completely dry. No in water works will occur as part of this project. The anticipated effects and mitigation for this scope of work are limited and well understood, thus a Basic Impact Assessment will be undertaken.
