The proposed project

The District of North Vancouver (the Applicant) proposes to replace an existing public wooden staircase with a prefabricated steel frame staircase that is approximately 1 meter wide by 16 meters long, located at 700 Beachview Drive (the Project) in North Vancouver. The existing staircase, owned by the District of North Vancouver provides public access to the beachfront on the Burrard Inlet, would be demolished and removed using power tools and heavy machinery. After the area has been cleared and grubbed, a steel staircase would be installed with 3 concrete landing pads at different locations along the staircase, railings, retaining wall, and rip rap protection at the base of the adjacent retaining wall. Approximately 4 meters of the lower section of the new staircase would be located within the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority's jurisdiction and would be below the high-water mark, which includes the concrete landing at the base of the staircase.

August 16, 2024– As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed Waterfront staircase, located at 700 Beachview Drive, North Vancouver, are likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Written comments to be received by September 14, 2024. .
