Sts'ailes Nation Subdivision Infrastructure Project

The subdivision project is being undertaken to address housing shortages for Sts'ailes community members.

The first phase of the proposed subdivision will include 75 single family lots, a lot for an Elders' Village (multi-family lot), the Telmexwawtexw Healing Center (Telmexw), and the Child and Family Services (CFS) Administration Building. Funding for many of these houses and community facilities has already been approved by BC Housing.

The timely delivery of water, wastewater, and subdivision infrastructure is critical to the success of two major BC Housing–funded developments already approved and being designed in Sts'ailes:

  • 44-unit Healing Centre housing project supporting the Telmexw Awtexw Healing Centre, and
  • 49-unit community rental housing project serving Sts'ailes' restored jurisdiction of Child and Family Services, families returning home and Elders wishing to age in place.

Both projects are scheduled for occupancy by January 2028 and are fully dependent on the completion of the supporting infrastructure.  The infrastructure is also essential to the operations of the Snowoyelh Department, which administers Child and Family Services (CFS) under Sts'ailes' restored jurisdiction.

The supporting infrastructure includes potable water and sanitary sewer systems, stormwater management infrastructure, electrical and third-party utilities, and a 20m road Right-of-Way (ROW) with paved single lane roads, pedestrian pathways and multi-use trails.  The project is being completed in conjunction with two other projects: the Sts'ailes Water System Upgrades project and the Sts'ailes Wastewater System Upgrades project.  These projects are progressing together so that the new buildings can connect to the community wastewater system, and to ensure the existing water system has the capacity to support the demands of the proposed subdivision.  The details of the Water and Wastewater projects can be found within their respective Registry postings.
