Main Camp Utilities Upgrade at Vernon Military Camp

A Utilities upgrade project for the Vernon Military Camp (Main Camp) is planned to start construction in spring 2025.

The work will involve the excavation and disposal of existing underground utility lines, installation of new water, sewer and storm lines, installation of a backbone communication duct system, restoration of roads, grading, repaving and revegetating impacts areas within the Main Camp of Vernon Military Camp. In addition to the work occurring at the Main Camp, an existing concrete chamber on the west side of Okanagan Highway 97 will have the valves permanently closed, the abandoned meter removed and disposed of, the chamber cut down to a minimum of 1.0 m below grade, backfilled and abandoned. Both of these areas where work will be occurring are cumulatively referred to as the "Main Camp Project Area".

Latest update

June 26, 2025 – The public comment period on the project is closed. The authorities are considering comments received to help inform the determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
