Construction and Operation of a new Gas Hut - Canadian Forces Base Borden

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed to construct and operate a new Gas Hut in the Range and Training Area of Canadian Forces Base Borden. The Gas Hut will consist of a slab on grade construction and will have an estimated gross floor area of less than 100m2 with a surrounding open area of 100m by 100m. The facility is proposed to be used as a training facility and is located adjacent to Langemark Range and other training facilities, such as rappel tower. Construction activities will consist of tree clearing and the installation of an access road and utilities for the building including electricity and water. Construction is proposed to begin in 2022 and following construction the facility will be in operation.

Latest update

May  6, 2022— The Department of National Defence issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
