Replacement Mast Installation - 12 Wing Shearwater

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing to carry out construction of new transmitter site that will house radios and air traffic management equipment at Shearwater. This includes the installation of two 100 foot all welded self support communications towers, a waveguide bridge, a communication cabinet and a communications shelter. The communications shelter will comprise of a standby power source, electrical services, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning requirements fully ready for communication and radio equipment. The proposed building construction project is scheduled to take place in Fiscal Year 2023-2024.

March 29, 2023— The Department of National Defence issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
