Halifax Stanfield Runway 14-32 Terrain Removal

At Halifax Stanfield International Airport, three areas of terrain near Runway 14-32 require modification to adjust grading and elevations.  The adjustment of the terrain will include removal and off-site disposal of approximately 8,000 m3 of pyritic slate bedrock, which underlies much of the airport property.  Off-site disposal will occur at an approved facility, following analytical testing of the material to confirm the absence of contaminants.  The areas will be reinstated with low-permeability soils and landscape ground-cover.
