Bay Fortune Wharf & Launching Ramp Reconstruction (Structures 410 and 503)

Bay Fortune's Small Craft Harbour wharf and launching ramp currently require reconstruction because of infrastructure deterioration caused by of years of aging, the effects of weather and, in particular, storm events. The launching ramp requires replacement of the decking timbers while the southern section of wharf immediately parallel to the bait sheds requires replacement of the concrete decking with a raised concrete deck to take into account sea-level rise. The existing timber wharf facing in this same location will be replaced with a new prefabricated H-pile and concrete wall structure.

Notice of Determination

June 22, 2023 - Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Small Craft Harbours (DFO-SCH) and Transport Canada (TC) have issued their Notice of Determination after evaluation of the Bay Fortune Wharf & Launching Ramp Reconstruction (Structures 410 and 503) project and have determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects with mitigation measures as outlined in their evaluation and can therefore proceed.
