Gateway Facilities ULC Apron Expansion and Hangar Construction

Gateway Facilities ULC located at 645 Pratt & Whitney Drive at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport is proposing the following two phase Project: 

Phase 1: The extension of Gateway Facilities current asphalt apron

Phase 2: Construction of an aircraft hangar and office space

Phase 1: The apron asphalt extension is planned for the eastern side of the property at 645 Pratt & Whitney Drive. The work which includes removing soil to bedrock of 750 mm below grade, and placement of asphalt concrete (heavy to accompany the parking of aircraft up to the size of 737). The asphalt mixes and densities comply with specifications by the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. Proposed Class 5 culverts and inverts are planned to control flow to existing ditches adjacent to the project area.

Phase 2: The new hangar will be in the center of the leased area and is directly adjacent to the proposed apron and current Gateway Facilities hangar. This will be used for additional clients of Gateway Facilities.

The Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) is inviting comments from the public regarding this proposed Project.  Comments will be accepted until June 20, 2020.
