Wharf Upgrades and Launching Ramp Reconstruction at the Covehead Small Craft Harbour, Prince Edward Island

Post-tropical storm Fiona damaged the wharf infrastructure at the Covehead Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Small Craft Harbour. The proposed project will include the reconstruction of existing wharf and launching ramp structures. Wharf structure #603 will be removed and reconstructed with steel sheet pile and armour stone shore protection; wharf structure #403 will be removed and replaced with steel sheet pile; and wharf structure #405 will be removed and reconstructed with a new cope wall.  All components of the work will raise the elevation of the deck by approximately 1 metre.  Launching ramp structure #501 will be reconstructed with a new slab-on-grade ramp.

Notice of Intent to Make a Determination – Start of Public Comment Period

 

June 12, 2024:  The Small Craft Harbours branch of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Parks Canada Agency intend to make a determination regarding whether carrying out of the Wharf Upgrades and Launching Ramp Reconstruction project, located at the Covehead Small Craft Harbour in Prince Edward Island, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.  To help inform this determination, the federal authorities are inviting public comments in respect to that determination for 30 days following the posting of this notice.  Please send comments in writing to:
