Emergency dredging at the commercial wharf of Cap-aux-Meules (phase 2)

An emergency dredging project (phase 1) was carried out in the fall-winter 2020-2021 at the commercial Port of Cap-aux-Meules to allow the arrival of a new ferry. Phase 2 of the dredging work will be carried out in the fall of 2021. The work consists of dredging the sediments inside the harbor and in the channel of the port of Cap-aux-Meules, at a greater depth than during phase 1 in some areas. An area (contiguous to the channel) of approximately 10,600 m2 will be dredged to allow safe maneuvering of ships; this will be included in the current port dredging template. The sediment will be dredged using a mechanical dredge or a suction dredge. The dredged sediments will be managed on land or in an authorized disposal at sea site.
