Lower Montague DFO-SCH Slip Replacement

The slip replacement project at Lower Montague Small Craft Harbour involves the removal of the existing precast concrete slipway pads and their replacement using new precast concrete slipway pads linked together with steel rebar. The existing slipway is comprised of precast concrete blocks which are spaced apart and held together via steel hooks and loops. These blocks are to be removed along with one to two feet of underlying earthen material and disposed of in accordance with provincial regulations. New rock fill and class A gravel will replace the removed earth to provide a more suitable structural layer. Larger precast rebar-reinforced concrete panels will then be placed on top of the class A gravel using the same footprint as the previous slipway. A rock groin comprised of R200 as well as a slipway toe comprised of R50 material, representing an area increase of approximately 75m2 to the structure, will also form part of the work. The construction zone and laydown area are to stay within the boundaries of structure 402 on the Small Craft Harbour site.
