Sipekne'katik Diversion Centre

The diversion centre will supplement existing waste collection services offered within the community and not replace these services. The diversion centre will allow community members to drop off waste, such as construction and demolition (C&D) debris, household hazardous waste (HHW) (e.g., paint, used oil, batteries), bulky items (e.g., furniture, mattresses), small amounts of garbage, and recyclables collected as part of the existing curbside program.  The center will be built on a 2800m2 lot.

The proposed construction activities include:

•     a granular entrance driveway with two separate access points;

•     administration building (approximately 10 m by 7 m by 4.2 m steel framed building);

•     granular parking area;

•     HHW Seacan container (moveable) with granular laydown area;

•     three reinforced concrete pads (7.3 m by 3.5 m each) to house removable roll off containers

•     one wooden shelter (1.5 m by 8 m) to house carts
