New Wharf at the Point Tupper Marine Terminal, Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia Power is proposing to remove the existing 2.4 m x 3.0 m steel wharf at the Point Tupper Marine Terminal and install a new 3.7 m x 12.0 m sheathed timber pile wharf located adjacent to the location of the existing wharf. The new wharf will consist of a timber box abutment and retaining wall installed in front of the abutment. The abutment will be lined with geofabric and filled with clear stone.  The wharf will be supported by fifteen 3.7 m timber piles arranged in sets of three across the width of the wharf. The piles will be 1.2 m apart across the width and each set will be 3.0 m apart along the length of the wharf. The piles will be driven with a mini crane pile driver. The shoreline where the new wharf will be installed will be reinforced by installing new armour stone on top of the old armour stone. The armour stone will have a new footprint of approximately 32 m² below the Ordinary High-Water Mark.
