Northern Pulp Project

Northern Pulp Nova Scotia Corporation is proposing the transformation of its current mill and the construction, operation, and decommissioning of a new effluent treatment facility adjacent to its bleached kraft pulp mill, located at Abercrombie Point near Pictou, Nova Scotia. Treated effluent would be discharged through a new pipeline extending into Pictou Harbour.


Latest update

June 10, 2022 — The Minister of Environment and Climate Change has determined that the Northern Pulp Project proposed by Northern Pulp Nova Scotia Corporation does not warrant designation under the Impact Assessment Act. The reasons for the Minister’s determination are provided in the Minister’s response.
