Lennox Island Wharf Construction

The purpose of the Project is to provide increased structural capacity to adapt to climate change impacts for the Lennox Island First Nation and to protect its primary industry sector, which is dependent on the Lennox Island First Nation Fishing Fleet at Lennox Island, PEI.  The Project includes the construction of a new boat slip, a new Berlin Wall structure and a new marginal wharf pier to provide berthing for 27 boats.  Dredging will be required and the dredge spoils will be used to create a permanent infill for a parking area and service area on the northern side of the new wharf development. The installation of a new fueling area will also be included.

The proposed wharf expansion will involve the construction of a new Berlin Wall structure, a new marginal wharf pier and associated structures. The Berlin Wall structures will be constructed using steel piles and precast concrete panels to retain backfill material. The marginal wharf pier will be constructed using steel piles that will support concrete pile caps and concrete decking.  Other work includes placement of armourstone protection and backfilling with the dredged material to create a service area for parking and storage.

Construction work will be completed both on land and on barges using typical heavy civil construction equipment including cranes, excavators, etc.
