Installation of a septic tile field at North Rustico beach, Prince Edward Island National Park

Prince Edward Island National Park is proposing to install a septic field at the North Rustico beach bathroom building to decrease its maintenance requirement. The current holding tank servicing the washroom building needs to be pumped twice weekly during the peak operation season, which requires unsustainable staff time. The proposed septic field will be connected to the holding tank and will disperse effluent in the grassed field southwest of the bathroom building. The septic field will be approximately 10x20m and will be maintained as a native grassed cover. Archeological investigation will be conducted prior to the construction work. Work will be conducted with heavy machinery from within the development footprint.
