Launching Ramp Improvements, Mabou Harbour, Inverness County, NS

The Small Craft Harbours Branch of Fisheries and Oceans Canada proposes to undertake the construction of a cribwork structure within the footprint of an existing structure at the Mabou Harbour DFO-SCH. The existing structure consists of a slipway with two parallel breakwaters on either side that extend approximately the same distance into the harbour. The proposed work would excavate a section of the existing west breakwater and a portion of the neighbouring service area temporarily to install a rock mattress that will support the new crib structure. Although there will be excavation and temporary removal of structures, there will be no permanent increase to the total footprint. New and retained armourstone will be installed at a new grade along the new crib structure to tie into the existing breakwater. The disturbed section of the nearby service area will be returned to pre-work conditions using new and existing gravel.
