Petit-Cap Wharf Re-construction

The L-shaped wharf structures #403 at Petit-Cap Small Craft Harbour (SCH) is a timber crib structure with a timber fender face and concrete deck that is deteriorating in condition. The current wharf runs parallel and adjacent to breakwater structure 602 for approximately 50m, then turns perpendicular to the breakwater and runs approximately 50m into the harbour basin. In order to address its deteriorating condition, SCH is proposing to completely remove the portion running into the basin. The remaining portion will be re-constructed with a new timber crib or Berlin Wall structure installed directly in front of the current wharf and will be extended an additional 10m towards the east. The existing timber crib in this section will remain intact and will be incorporated into the design of the new structure. The footprint of the portion of wharf to be removed is approximately 470m2. The portion of wharf to be reconstructed currently measures 8m wide by 51m long, for a total footprint of approximately 408m2. The reconstructed wharf will measure up to 13m wide by 62m long, for a total footprint of 806m2. The expanded footprint below the high water mark will be approximately 310m2. The project will also entail the "topping up" of breakwater structure #602, however the footprint of this structure will not be increased
