Power Grid Modernization - 4 Wing Cold Lake

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project. In support of the Future Fighter Capability Project, the 4 Wing power grid requires modernization. The scope of the Power Grid Modernization project is to construct a new 25 KV underground High-Voltage power line. The project, conducted through 4 phases of work across 4 Wing, will include both overhead and underground power lines, lighting, and associated infrastructure.

Latest update

May 29, 2024 - The Department of National Defence intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, the Department of National Defence is inviting public comments until June 17, 2024 respecting that determination.
