Upgrade of Main Refueling Station at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright (Alberta)

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. The Department of National Defence plans to upgrade the Main Refueling Station at CFB Wainwright. The project will include demolition of existing infrastructure and replacement with new storage tanks, foundations, services and roads. Project activities are planned to begin in 2026 and may continue over several years. An interim fueling station may be established adjacent to the project site.

March 3, 2026 – The public comment period on the project is closed. The Department of National Defence is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
