Remedial activities at a site impacted by Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) - Garrison Wainwright

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed to begin remediation of a site impacted by a release of Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) foam. The contaminants of concern are Per- and Polyfluorinated Substances (PFAS). Preliminary remedial activities will include excavation and treatment of 50-200 cubic meters of soil from the project site. Soil will be excavated and moved to an indoor location for treatment. Project activities will begin in summer 2024. Further delineation and remedial activities may continue in subsequent years.
