AIRPORT CITY SOLAR PROJECT at Edmonton International Airport

The Airport City Solar Project (the "Project") is a 120 MW solar energy facility situated on 627 acres of industrially zoned land located on the west side of the Edmonton International Airport (EIA). The Project will be developed and operated by Alpin Sun, a global developer of utility scale renewable energy projects.

The Project will consist of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, racking systems, internal access roads, underground collection lines, electrical inverters, a transformer substation, and a perimeter fence. Extensive studies to fully understand the potential environmental, health, social and economic impacts associated are currently underway for the Project and baseline environmental field surveys have already been completed. The Project is located on previously disturbed agricultural land and has been sited to minimize impacts to wildlife and wildlife habitat through avoidance of environmentally sensitive features. In addition to careful Project siting and avoidance measures, the Project will implement site-specific mitigation measures during the construction, operation, and decommissioning phases of the Project to minimize adverse environmental impacts.

The Project is also fully committed to engaging with the public and Indigenous communities throughout the Project lifecycle in order to ensure that the potential environmental, health, social, and economic effects associated with the Project are thoroughly considered and addressed.

Pending regulatory approvals, construction of the Project is scheduled to commence in the spring of 2022 with commercial operations targeted to begin in November 2022. The expected life of the Project is 35-40 years.

The Project will help Canada meet its environmental obligations and climate change commitments by generating 100% clean energy for use by the EIA and its tenants, as well as for commercial enterprises and residents located in the surrounding area.
