The Proposed Project

ERAA is proposing to expand cargo operations, bringing job creation opportunities and critical transportation capacity to drive our region's economic growth. An initial public notice was provided in March 2023; this notice provides a project update. The development is proposed to occur on approximately 2000 acres of undeveloped land southwest of Runway 12/30. The current undeveloped land is leased for agricultural use. The development will realign a portion of a low value unnamed watercourse and remove wetland features that pose risk to safe airport operation. These wetlands are currently cultivated. The project is comprised of four components: Base Services and Utilities, Airside Infrastructure, Runway Connections and Improvements, Groundside Infrastructure and building facilities that could range from 230,000 to 550,000 ft2 footprints. Supporting improvements include airport upgrades, roadways, a dry-pond stormwater facility and utilities. The building facilities could include capabilities such as E-commerce Logistics, Intermodal Cargo Handling, and light manufacturing or assembly. Early works for site preparation has commenced, based off the initial environmental effects evaluation and determination, and the overall development is expected to proceed in early 2026 with completion by fall 2027.
