Radium Hot Springs Aquacourt Foundation Stabilization, Phase 2

Parks Canada is planning to undertake foundation repairs, including a culvert extension, at the Radium Hot Springs Aquacourt in Kootenay National Park. The foundation of the building is deteriorated and has been undermined by Sinclair Creek. The Aquacourt at Radium Hot Springs was constructed between 1949 and 1951 and the building is designated as a classified federal heritage building. The footprint of disturbance within the High Water Mark of Sinclair Creek is estimated at 604m2 as a result of the new culvert and rip rap installation. Repairs and upgrades are required to protect the foundation of the heritage building from being undermined on both sides where the creek flows under the building as well as to address substantial deterioration of the existing building foundation and concrete support columns.
