Deer Lodge Redevelopment

The project involves the complete redevelopment of Deer Lodge in Lake Louise. Existing structures will be demolished or upgraded, and new hotel buildings will be constructed. The entire area will be landscaped. The project will fall under a BIA pathway due to the project involving a large new construction footprint and associated earthwork, its proximity to Louise Creek, and the necessity to evaluate a diversity of potential impacts, including: water use, soil disturbance, vegetation, SAR species and visitor use. The proposed project is consistent with the Lake Louise Community Plan and redevelopment will follow the associated implementation guidelines. The proponent is expected to present their proposed redevelopment to the Lake Louise Advisory Board. There was a consultation component for the approved Lake Louise Community Plan, and associated implementation guidelines (2003).
