Cascade Pit Gravel Crushing

Parks Canada Highway Operations Unit is proposing to crush 11,033m3 of existing gravel debris that is currently stored as Cascade Pit in Banff National Park for use in winter road abrasive. Once crushed, 5000m3 of the material will be moved immediately from the pit to the Banff Operations Compound, and pickled for use as winter abrasive. The remaining 6033m3 will remain at Cascade Pit until 2022, when it will be transported for storage at the Operations Compound, where it will be pickled for use as winter road abrasive. Equipment required for this project includes a gravel crushing plant as well as bull dozers, loaders, excavators, dump trucks, and pick-up trucks.
