Town of Banff Bow River Bridge Old Pump Station Building Demolition

The Town of Banff has proposed the demolition of the old pump station building attached to the north abutment of the Bow River Bridge. The building is no longer functioning under its intended use, has been identified as close to the end of its build life and becoming structurally unsound. Project activities would include: the installation of temporary supports for demolition activities; relocation of some active utility lines; asbestos abatement; demolition of the cinder block walls attached to the abutment (includes the removal of the rundle stone cladding which will be salvaged and stored for re-use); replacement of a structural I-beam; reinsulating of the water main; repair of rundle stone cladding to match bridge where building walls were tied into the abutment; and completion of landscaping to match surrounding area. Project is being undertaken to improve the safety of the structure for Town of Banff staff and the public.
