Parks Canada Marsh Loop Trail Water Leveler Removal

Parks Canada proposes removing the Clemson water leveler and related infrastructure at the Western Beaver Dam on the Marsh Loop Trail. The leveler was installed in 2022 as a temporary solution to mitigate the potential flooding of the Marsh Loop Trail and adjacent lands within the town of Banff. Post-installation monitoring and a hydrotechnical investigation determined that the Marsh Loop Berm and Clemson leveler are not expected to significantly reduce the risk of flooding to downstream infrastructure. As a result, the Clemson leveler is no longer required and is proposed to be removed.
