Parks Canada Agency Prescribed Burns- Southesk, Talbot Lake

There are two prescribed burns planned by the Jasper National Park Fire Team potentially starting in Spring 2022. Southesk Unit (925 hectares) is located in the upper portion of the Southesk River valley near Southesk Lake. Talbot Lake Unit (3600 hectares) is located in the eastern portion of Jasper National Park south of Highway 16.
These prescribed burns fall outside of the scope of a Best Management Practice or a Preapproved Routine Impact Assessment, though the Parks Canada National Best Management Practices for Fire Management Operations will be part of the mitigations to further minimize adverse effects.
