Protection Mountain Fire Guard

This project will improve fire resilience in the Bow Valley and serve as a containment line to support large-scale wildfire suppression activities in the event of a wildfire or prescribed burn. The guard will provide a forest-fuel break north of Protection Mountain campground spanning from the Bow Valley Parkway (Highway 1A) to the eastern slope of Protection Mountain. The proposed guard will improve overall forest health, enhance wildlife corridors as well as provide new grazing areas for local wildlife populations.
