Tsuut'ina Bullhead Road Sewer Line Project

Tsuut'ina Nation is proposing to construct a deep sanitary sewer line along Bullhead road. The proposed sewer line will service existing community buildings including the community hall, the fire station, Sarcee townsite and the museum as well as the future medical center.  The sewer line will run from the site of the proposed medical center along Bullhead road to the museum. The sewer line will be approximately 5.5 km long with a 20 meter wide right of way. There will be a total of 33 manholes and one lift station on route.

Site preparation will include the removal of shrubs and trees from the ditch next to the road. All trees will be retained on reserve for community use. The project will also require the removal of some fencing, the stripping of topsoil, trenching, and excavation. Directional drilling will be used to cross existing roads and to tie into services along the route. The sewer line will cut through a portion of undeveloped land northwest of the Museum where a 5m wide gravel road will be developed beside the pipeline to allow for servicing of three manholes proposed in that area.

Indigenous Services Canada is providing funding under the Capital Facilities and Maintenance Program (CFMP). The project is not located near any waterbodies and is not expected to impact any species at risk. Tree and shrub removal will be completed outside of bird nesting and rearing timeframes. Disturbed areas will be re-seeded with native species upon completion of the work.
