Goodstoney Aggregate Pit Expansion

Nakoda Oil and Gas Inc. is proposing to expand operations at the existing Goodstoney Aggregate Pit. It is proposed that that pit will expand from its permitted 10 hectares operation of 200,000 cubic metres of extraction to a total operational area of 39.9 hectares and an estimated 3,345,104 cubic meters of recoverable extraction through 5 phases of development. The project is located on Stoney Reserves 142, 143, 144  south of HWY 1A near the community of Mînî Thnî.

The project activities will include site preparation, aggregate extraction, gravel crushing and washing, asphalt crushing, and reclamation. Topsoil will be salvaged and stored separately from other materials for use in reclamation. Reclamation will be progressive where compatible with operations. No species listed on schedule 1 of the Species at Risk Act have been identified within the project study area and the project overlaps with 0.17 of graminoid marsh wetland. The Bow river is 700m from the pit boundary and there are no waterbodies or watercourses within the proposed footprint.

Indigenous Services Canada will be required to issue a permit for the project under the Indian Act
