Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Geotechnical Activities

Geotechnical investigation is required to support the design of a new support facility at the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), Chalk River (CRL) site.  The locations being assessed for the proposed facility are both previously disturbed federal land.  Site preparation activities are minimal and will include limited vegetation clearing to facilitate access.  The geo technical characterization involves advancing approximately 10 boreholes to evaluate soil and bedrock quality.  All activities will be conducted in accordance with CNL's Environmental Policy and applicable legislation.  A separate IAA s.82 review will be conducted prior to facility construction once a suitable location has been determined.
