LeBreton Flats Pathway

The NCC plans to build a pathway through LeBreton Flats in 2021. It will connect the Capital Pathway along the Ottawa River to the Pimisi and Bayview O-Train stations at LeBreton Flats. The creation of this pathway is part of the new LeBreton Flats Master Concept Plan, which was approved in 2020. Specifically, it is the first element of the plan's Mobility, and Parks and Public Realm strategies that will be implemented.

The universally accessible pathway was designed in consultation with public stakeholders and will feature two segments totaling approximately one kilometre. The project site and surrounding area is a brownfield site which contains contaminated soils, including a former municipal landfill. Any excavated soil will be managed according to applicable federal and provincial regulations and best practices. Fencing and landscaping will be used to keep users on the pathway.

Please refer to the NCC website for further details on the project.

Construction Schedule

Construction for the project is planned for summer to fall 2021.
