Drummond Street Bridge Rehabilitation, Perth ON

Rehabilitation of the Drummond Street Bridge is required in order to improve its poor condition and maintenance of its current function. Rehabilitation of the bridge will generally involve the following: replacement of the railing system; replacement of the bridge deck pavement and waterproofing; construction and/or replacement of the approach slabs and re-paving of the approaches; repairs to the deck top, soffit, and girders; replacement of the expansion joints; repairs to the sidewalks, abutments, wingwalls, retaining wall, ballast wall, and deck drains; repairs to the eroded areas of the embankments including installation of rip rap and streambed material to match existing elevations/natural stream elevations; and vegetation removal.

The project will involve the implementation of various mitigations, and federal advice, that safeguards the environment, and socio-economic and human health aspects in the project area.

The proposed project will undergo a federal Impact Assessment (IA) which is being jointly prepared/reviewed by the Parks Canada Agency (PCA) and Transport Canada (TC) due to federal land and permit from PCA and a permit from TC. The proponent has been advised to contact the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and it can be assumed the DFO will also be involved in project review.
