Restoration of one barn and demolition of three sheds at 5585 Ridge Road

The National Capital Commission (NCC) intends to restore one barn and demolish three sheds located at 5585 Ridge Road in Ottawa, Ontario. The project is needed to stabilize and preserve the barn, while the sheds have come to the end of their life cycle.

The proposed project would take place on leased lands owned by the NCC.

The work to restore the barn would include roof replacement, new structural framing, and new electrical wiring. The demolition work would include deconstruction of the three sheds and salvaging reusable materials. The barn to be restored is approximately 486 meters squared and the combined footprint of the three sheds to be demolished is approximately 578 meters squared.

The construction area would be accessed with light duty machines and equipment. For safety reasons, all work areas will be fenced. The construction is set to begin fall 2022 and be completed by spring 2023. Construction work will abide by all municipal bylaws including noise.

Non-reusable materials resulting from the demolitions will be disposed of following federal and provincial requirements. No trees are anticipated to be removed.
