Sewer Realignment and Removal - 1460 Riverside Drive

The City of Ottawa proposes the relocation and removal of sewers crossing property owned by the National Capital Commission.

The National Capital Commission property is currently traversed by a 1015x1500mm rectangular storm sewer and a 600mm diameter sanitary sewer including a 375mm diameter connection from the south. Each sewer will need to be realigned to follow the City owned right of ways along Riverside Drive, Terminal Avenue and the connection to the Transitway near Hurdman Station. With Riverside Drive having been recently overlayed, the sewers are set to be built with trench reinstatement to the nearest lane delineation to avoid asphalt segregation in the middle of a traffic lane. Once these sewers are realigned, the existing sewers on the National Capital Commission property will be removed and replaced with clean fill, topsoil and seeded.

During construction, a minimum of one lane will be open in each direction on Riverside Drive, Terminal Avenue and the connection to the Transitway. Short duration flagging operations on Terminal Avenue/Transitway may be required. Staging areas for construction will only be permitted within the City of Ottawa right-of-way and inside the work zone on the National Capital Commission property.

Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2022 (pending approvals) and be completed by the winter of 2022.

Latest update
