L'Orignal Marina - Floating Breakwater Replacement

L'Orignal Marina is located on the south shore of the Ottawa River, roughly 100km east of Ottawa, in the Township of Champlain. This recreational harbour, consisting of a boat launch, floating docks, a marina building, and fueling station, is on federal lands and is managed by the Township of Champlain under a lease agreement with Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). The marina is protected from waves by three strings of floating breakwaters. One of the floating breakwater strings is in poor condition and is consequently not providing adequate wave protection to the marina.

Accordingly, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is planning to undertake a project at the L'Orignal Marina to replace the one floating breakwater string that is in poor condition to ensure adequate wave protection in the marina basin. The proposed replacement breakwater will be approximately the same size, and will be located in approximately the same location.
