Rehabilitation of the Canal Bridge and replacement of spans 1 and 5

InfraMTL Inc., which maintains the infrastructure acquired as part of the development of the REM, must intervene on the Canal Bridge, at the Lachine Canal.

During an inspection conducted in the summer of 2020, several defects were observed. Major repair and replacement work is required to ensure the integrity of the structure and the safety of users.

The project is divided into several phases. The first phase, scheduled for July, consists of removing the out-of-service catenaries, preparing the surface, painting the columns and transfer beam, and finally replacing spans 1 and 5, which are located on the land portion of the bridge only. No work will be done over the Lachine Canal waterway.
