YUL Montreal-Trudeau International Airport - Removal of underground tank

The project involves the removal of an underground tank with a capacity of approximately 45,000 litres, as well as the piping and distribution pumps. This tank, which is no longer in use, will be emptied, removed and disposed of in accordance with current regulations.

As part of this project, work will also be done to clean the sumps, gutters and drains as well as the oil/water separators. Wash water will be recovered for treatment and disposal in accordance with regulations.

Soils at the base and walls of the tank pit will be sampled and analyzed for environmental compliance. The land where the tank is located will be rehabilitated.

November 19, 2020 - Given that no comments were received and following the analysis of the environmental assessment conducted by a third party, ADM Aéroports de Montréal has determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Measures in compliance with current regulations will be taken during the work for the following elements: soil and groundwater, hazardous materials, residual materials. As a result, AVIS-Budget may carry out the project.
