New Development of a Parking Area at CEVA

Transport Canada will construct a new building on the site of the Motor Vehicle Test Center (CEVA). This new laboratory will be built on the current location of the parking lot (known as the "cemetery") where the vehicles damaged during the tests are temporarily stored. Therefore, the development of a new parking area is necessary. Following the tests, the vehicles are temporarily stored, for a period generally varying from 6 to 12 months, before being sold at auction via GS Surplus. Note that in preparation for testing, vehicles are drained of fuel, lubricants, coolant and other fluids. It is anticipated that site preparation will be required, including the removal of existing vegetation. The projected area is approximately 6000 m2 (30 m by 200 m). The project includes the placement of gravel and dirt for the storage area. The installation of a culvert of approximately 200 meters is planned from west to east along Alpha Road before backfilling the ditch. Work is scheduled for spring and summer 2023.
