The Proposed Project

New Vehicle Storage Building – Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport

To keep up with the airport's increased apron size, regulatory requirements and to provide the safest runway and taxiway conditions possible at all times, the airport acquired more vehicles over the last few years, many of which have been stored outside. Vehicles continually exposed to harsh elements suffer more breakdowns and increased maintenance costs, which can negatively impact operations.

Construction of a single storey, slab-on-grade, 5,100 m2 heated vehicle storage building is proposed.  A 60-vehicle parking lot and a 6,400 m2 paved apron surrounding the building comprise the associated infrastructure. The new building, which will be equipped with solar PV panels, will be linked to the existing Hendrick Building via a 170 m long, two-lane roadway.
