Indoor Riding Arena

Project summary: Build an indoor riding arena to allow for year-round horse riding.

How is NCC or NCC land involved:  NCC tenant to build and pay for the building.

NCC's role: Arena to be constructed on NCC land by a tenant.

Impacts to land or neighbours: The proposed project will not significantly change the appearance of the surrounding area, as the site is shielded by trees and cannot be seen clearly from the road. The design of the arena is consistent with the look and feel of other buildings on site. It will help rejuvenate the property, enhancing the facility for clients and neighbours.

No tree removal is required. The location is an open area that is currently a horse paddock. There will be no impact to the surrounding land. The land consists of open field and pasture grass. In order to build the arena, three inches of topsoil will need to be removed.

The extent of the work will be minimal.  During construction there will be trucks, and a crane coming onto the property during regular weekday business hours.  All materials will be tarped to ensure there is no nesting.

Purpose of project: The tenant is restoring the oldest equestrian centre in the Ottawa area to its former glory so that it can continue to be a long-standing centre for generations to come. A horse farm cannot run year-round with the Ottawa climate without a proper indoor space to operate.

Timeline: Begin March 22, completion July 30
